First Fridays Online Guided Slow Birding

  • Saint, Albans VT 05478 (map)

Join Bird Diva Bridget Butler for an introduction to Slow Birding through an online guided sit spot session on the first Friday of every month. Slow Birding is a mindful approach to birding that is focused on re-awakening & fine-tuning your innate birding skills while at the same time creating a deeper connection to yourself and the land. Your guide, Bridget Butler, is a professional bird guide and facilitator based in Vermont who specializes in sharing her Slow Birding approach to nature connection.

We’ll explore practices for expanding our awareness, using mindfulness, and deepening our connection with birds wherever we may be. Participants should choose a spot outdoors or near a window; find a spot where you feel safe and comfortable to spend some quiet time with birds. You may want to have: a beverage, a field journal, something to write with, binoculars (although these are not required), and a comfortable chair.

These monthly sessions on Zoom are free of charge and can be attended singly or as many times as you like. Each session will be 30-45 minutes in length and have fresh components in addition to a familiar opening exercise. This online experience is open to beginner and experienced birders alike. Birders with limited mobility will find that Slow Birding is a practice that focuses on nature connection without the need to travel or cover long distances. Closed captions will be provided.

Registration is required. Once registered you’ll receive a confirmation email with the details for how to connect each month to the Zoom session.
